2026 Virtual School Fair
If you are considering an independent school education for your child, attend the Early Steps Virtual School Fair to hear directly from representatives at the school(s) of your choice. This is an important first step in the independent school application process, as it will help you determine the best educational environment for your child.

How it works –
  • The independent schools listed will host one 20-minute info session on Zoom between September 15-17, 2026. Each will include 5 minutes of Q&A.
  • You may attend as many sessions as you want, to learn about different schools
  • This event is open to the public. Attendance to the event is free, but registration is required.  Click HERE to register.

About us: Early Steps is a nonprofit organization that helps children of color access independent/private school education in New York City starting in kindergarten and first grade by providing personalized, hands-on guidance to families. The Early Steps process begins a year before children actually enter school – so if your child is entering Kindergarten or First Grade in Fall 2027, you should apply now for our program.

If selected, we will work with your family for an entire year, providing school referrals, help navigating the financial aid process, candidate advocacy, school selection assistance, and post-placement support. Learn more and apply:
